We were tasked with re-designing our customer lifecycle to increase retention, so we developed an automated email onboarding journey that used real-time data about the customer to encourage them to finish building their website. It included a nurture series as well which saw a lift in publish rates and retention. We also created a smart recommendation center in the customer’s portal that displayed relevant add-on offers.

I had many functions on this small marketing team in a start-up environment. We were scrappy and had to be very agile to respond to any fires that needed to be put out on a day to day basis. My main goals here were to increase conversion rate on the website as well as create the customer onboarding journey, which included a cross-sell drip campaign too.

My job was to put our products where customers could find them on our website and market those products in such a way that stimulated interest and enticed customers to make a purchase. I wrote curated “Top 10” lists and created content to showcase our products. In order to sell to the customer, I had to think like a customer, which included extensive market research.
